December glared and looked at the menu. She had been waiting for a while now for her new guardian to come and pick her up. Her parents had claimed her as dangerous to herself and the family. So she was being shipped off to Jon Dooms house. Though she couldn't blame her family for their thoughts, she thought that this was one of their worst ideas yet.
December ordered a piece of pizza and soda and sat waiting. Her cell went off and she started to talk it up. Truth was, well, she wasn't the little girl that everyone remembered. She doubt that this supposed Uncle of hers would even recognize her. Finally someone came over to where she was sitting and she looked up at him. "You lost or do you want a picture?"

He wasn't sure he was ready to take in a teenager full time. He didn't even get to see his own kids full time. But he wasn't going to turn December away. He wasn't the type of person to do that. She was becoming too much for her family to handle in their current situation, and Jon was the type of person who would always take in someone who needed it. So, maybe he wasn't ready. He was sure that, in due time, he'd get the hang of it. At least, he hoped he would.
He approached her as soon as he spotted her. He himself was pretty hungry, having not eaten since breakfast. She looked up at him and spoke. Her words hit his ears. He frowned slightly, but after having dealt with two teenagers already, they didn't hurt him as much as they would have ten years prior. "I'm not lost, December," he said, voice even, "I'm here to pick you up. Your parents told me you'd be here."
OOC: Hope it works. They'll get better as it gets going, I promise. ^^

December almost coughed on her soda. This was her new guardian? December looked him up and down. He didn't seem to be like the authoritative type. "Oh, well I'm still eating, you can join me and wait. I'm not gonna leave yet because I haven't really eaten all day long, so this is breakfast, lunch and well my dinner as well." she said looking at him. She wondered if he was going to make her go to school? If so that would probably be the only place she got to see Dawn.
"So umm, you gonna make me go to school?" she asked after she took a huge bite of her pizza. Not alot of people knew that she was well, one a stripper, and two in a gang. "I'm sure you are, you seem to be the stuffy type."

He narrowed his eyes in curiosity when she looked him up and down. It had been years since she'd last seen him. He wondered if she'd even remembered who he was. More than that, he wondered what was on her mind and why she was staring him down like that. "I'm actually quite hungry myself..." he said as he sat down and reached for a menu, "So I don't mind staying. And I can assure you that this will not be your last meal of the day," he said, narrowing his eyes again.
"Of course I am," he replied as he waved a waitress over, "Education is important," Well, who would expect anything else from a teacher? He gave his order quickly, just one slice and a coke, before turning to speak to December again, "The stuffy type?" he asked, smirk on his face, "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"And I assure you that it is my last meal of the day" she said with a full on smile. But sadly the smile vanished when he said that education was important. "Fine, I'll go to stupid school, but you must be warned, I stay out pretty late, and I have friends that I do stuff with. And I mean that you have that whole 'What I say goes' schtick going on it seems. And I for one don't do rules." she said taking another bite of her pizza.
December didn't really remember him all to well. Minus the fact that there was the one time that she lived at his house for a short period of time. But then again that was when, well Alissa was still with him. She remembered swearing and being shoved in to the corner for it. She shivered at the thought. "So..we good?"

"We'll see about that," He said, returning her smile with one of his own. As soon as his order was brought to him, he took a sip of coke, eyes moving back to her as she spoke again. "Not any more you don't," he said calmly. Of course, there would be slip ups sometimes. It was pretty easy to walk all over him when he'd been drinking. But that had eased over the years. He had to keep it under wraps. It was the only way he could get partial custody, after all. "But we'll work out a curfew later."
He smirked. He remembered what it was like to be her age. He himself stayed out past curfew. Spent most of his nights with friends. Couldn't remember a lot of it, even. But wasn't part of being an adult trying to ensure that those you raise into adulthood don't turn out exactly like you? The last thing he wanted was for anyone to be how he was. Little did he know, though. "Perhaps I am. Perhaps I'm not," He sighed, "The truth is, I don't have that many rules I expect you to follow. The only things I ask are that you go to school and that you come home at a decent hour," he took a bite of his pizza, eyes on her, "Whether we are or not is up to you," he replied.

December looked at him. "You're not my father, your the person my parents ran to when they couldn't handle me because my little sister got sick. I don't understand why I'm the one getting punished here anyways. She's the sick one, send her away but nooo she's pretty and needs all their damn attention." It wasn't that she hated her sister, she was just bittered about the ways things turned out. "And I will continue to go out with my friends, when they need me and get home when I do." she said feeling her phone vibrate.

"I never said I was your father," he said. He was used to those remarks, though. He'd heard them from Jacoby's kids often enough. "Her being the sick one means that she needs special attention. Attention I'm not capable of giving her, if I'm to be perfectly honest. You'll understand one day," He almost added when you're older. But he remembered what it felt like to be a teenager. To think that everyone assumed you were dumb just because you were young.
"We'll discuss that later," he said, waving it off. There were sure to be a few days where she got away with breaking the curfew. And then others were he'd make it darn near impossible to do so. He took a bite of his pizza then, not even realizing how hungry he truly was until he swallowed it down.

December stared at him. "Are you seriously sayin that my sister needs special attention? Were you not there all her life? All she ever got was special attention! From the day she was born. And what about me huh? My mother never really wanted me, I was just a fluke from a one night stand, right? That must be why she shoves me off on everyone else." she said. December grabbed her food and threw the rest of it away. "Don't have much of an appetite now."

"Actually," he said, voice remaining surprisingly calm as he took another sip of his coke, "I wasn't there all her life. I was kind of busy with Sam and Jr," he sighed, shaking his head. What she was saying didn't surprise him much. He was used to hearing such words. Heck, he went through it with Sam from time to time. The red headed step child act as Alissa often called it. "I'm not saying she's any more or less important than you. The attention she requires is different. She's sick," he sighed again, not quite in the mood to argue. Let alone in public. His mood was pretty elevated at the moment. He didn't want that to change.
"Doesn't matter, you'll eat later," he said nonchalantly, "Your mother loves you, December. You just have to understand that right now your sister really does need special attention," then he said the words he'd been trying not to. The words that reminded him so much of his mother. He almost thought it was her speaking them when he said, "You'll understand one day."

December almost scoffed. "I'll understand one day? When? When I'm dead?" She kicked her chair back and grabbed her things. "Don't wait up for me, I'll be back when I'm back." she said as she went on her way. December felt her phone vibrate again, she looked at the text message and replied to it. There was nothing more then anything that she wanted then just to dance around to the music and strip right now. She didn't bother to look to see if he was following her or not.

Jon sighed. Well, they were off to a rough start. He didn't know what he had expected. He worked with teenagers for a living. He'd seen all sorts. The rebellious. The angst. The quiet kind who always sat in the back and sulked. "One day when you're older," he said, eyes flicking to her as she kicked her chair back, grabbing for her thing, "And if you're not back when I expect you to be you won't be leaving the house for a long time," he threatened. Was it an empty threat? Possibly. It all depended on how well his week went.
She walked away then, replying to what he could only guess was a text. It wasn't long before he was following. "I don't believe I was done talking to you," he said, "Look, I know this is hard. But I'm doing the best I can."
